The Darkness of God’s Plan

Suttree (Cormac McCarthy)

His subtle obsession with uniqueness troubled all his dreams.

I’m away for the weekend, and taking my copy of Cormac McCarthy’s Suttree with me, which is overdue for its annual re-read. For what it’s worth, this is the greatest novel ever written. It’s the Fun House of fiction, in that it repels all those who are simply not ready for it, takes no prisoners throughout its entire duration, and when you get to the end you know nothing else you experience from that moment on will be quite the same.
