I’ve written about this place before. Here’s an alternative view, from inside the underpass, which now comes complete with metal barriers at either end to dissuade teenagers on bikes ripping through at high speed. A recent repainting of the walls has also given them an enticing bare canvas to cover with their creative outpourings. Usually it’s the elaborate and illegible graphic patterns that are now endorsed by local councils across the country as evidence of a tourist-friendly ‘street vibe’, but you occasionally get some old school surrealist scrawls. My favourite, long-since erased, was: ‘Not All Angels Are Insane’.
