Time, Gentlemen, Please
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets
I gave this painting to George Shaw last year. I did not expect one but George generously replied with signed copies of his books and a note detailing the irony of this painting’s title with the news that his local pub had just shut down. “We are being swept into the dusty corners,” he wrote, and he’s not wrong.
